The person behind
the pixels

I've spent eleven years working across design and development — from print layout at a small Portland studio to frontend architecture at a Series B startup. The thread through all of it is a conviction that clarity is a design principle, not just a content problem.

Most of my recent work focuses on editorial and content-driven sites: publications, portfolios, small e-commerce, and brand sites where the writing matters more than the interface. I'm drawn to projects where restraint is the hardest design decision — where the challenge isn't adding more, but knowing when to stop.

When I'm not designing or coding, I'm usually reading about typography history, walking along the Willamette, or experimenting with letterpress printing at a community studio downtown.

Where I've Worked

2022 – Present

Independent Freelance

Designing and building editorial sites, brand identities, and content-driven platforms for clients in publishing, hospitality, and sustainable goods. Focused on craft and long-term partnerships over volume.

2019 – 2022

Frontend Architect — Cascadia Digital

Led frontend architecture for a 12-person agency. Built a shared component library used across 15 client projects. Improved average Lighthouse scores from 64 to 94 across the portfolio.

2016 – 2019

Designer & Developer — Timber Studio

Started as a print designer, transitioned to web. Built 30+ marketing sites for local Portland businesses. Fell in love with typography on the web and never looked back.

2014 – 2016

Junior Designer — Willamette Press

Print layout and typesetting for a small Portland publishing house. Learned the fundamentals of grid systems, whitespace, and reading rhythm that still inform my web work today.
